A successful collaborative artwork combines the signature styles of the artists, with each individual recognizable.
The resulting piece is greater than the sum of its parts.
Collaborating on a piece of artwork turns out to be more of a challenge than one might think. In order to let the other person’s style shine through, we both need to be willing to relinquish control of part of the process and design decision.
This is not so easy.
We are fortunate in that our strong points are different.
David’s strong point and signature style is his surface treatment.
My strong point and signature style is my style of turning.
Therefore, his decoration on my turning is a natural success.
We have learned a lot about each other and about our work through the adventure of collaborative artworks. With these very special pieces,
we offer to share with you what we find meaningful in our lives together.
